Abstract
Self-actualization, confidence and trust from adults, and the development of meaningful goals are becoming more difficult for young people to achieve and realize. Drug abuse, with most regular drug users, is a comfortable, easy way to deal with the frustrations now becoming their heritage. The solution lies beyond acute treatment and traditional rehabilitation, to broad community programs where stimulating constructive activities for self-development can be created. This concept underlies the work of the Army's Impact Center on Okinawa.
