Abstract
A psychiatrist and President of the American Anorexia Nervosa Association presents a personal account of the development of his interest in this disorder. Progress in understanding the etiology of anorexia nervosa has been slow. For the benefit of patients and families, there is a need to organize information on treatment of anorexia nervosa and on the practioners who are qualified to provide such treatment.
