A sample of forty-two outpatient drug abuse counselors in a midwestern state were surveyed to assess certain process and outcome variables involved in their work. Selected counselor background and caseload variables were able to successfully predict the use of accepted treatment process techniques but no significant relationship between these variables and client outcome was found.
