Abstract
A previous paper described in detail the development of a competency-determined pharmacy curriculum at the University of Minnesota [1]. A second major project was initiated for the development of a patient-oriented, holistic pharmaceutical curriculum. This paper describes the management information system being developed to support the information and data management needs for both of these projects.
The development process being used is evolutionary in motive, allowing the system to support the old curriculum as it is phased out, replaced by the new curriculum. In this way, the complexity of the management system increases as the curriculum requires, affording both time to test and debug new procedures and the ability to correct mistakes as work progresses.
