Scientometric Visualization on Mughal Architecture: tracing research trajectories

Abstract

This article discusses a thorough scientometric analysis carried on Mughal architecture from 1986 to 2023 and reveals a complex web of scholarly investigation. Utilizing the vast Scopus database in conjunction with sophisticated analytical tools such as R-Studio and Python in the Anaconda environment, the study uncovers subtle correlations in a dataset consisting of 99 articles. The continuous evolution of Mughal architecture studies is shown in the harmonized yearly growth rate of 5.4%. The collaborative constellations of 155 domestic and international authors shed light on the worldwide interconnectivity within this academic field. Pakistan’s significant influence is emphasized in the assessment of country-specific contributions, which is contrasted with the distinctive viewpoints provided by the United States, the United Kingdom, and China.

A negative R-squared result for the linear regression model highlights the difficulty of forecasting citation impact using only quantitative metrics. Notwithstanding these difficulties, the study contributes substantially to the comprehension of the complex field of Mughal architecture research, highlighting the necessity for a nuanced synthesis of quantitative and qualitative aspects in scholarly appraisal and encouraging more investigation.
