This report describes the case of a teenager stung by a Pacific bluebottle jellyfish (Physalia utriculus) in Hawaii, who subsequently developed classical lesions of granuloma annulare. It is speculated that various toxic substances found in the complex venom of this particular coelenterate may be responsible for initiating the pathophysiologic mechanism.
