Simultaneous Detection of C 6 H 5 NHD,C 6 H 5 ND 2,C 6 D 5 NH 2,C 6 D 5 NHD,and C 6 D 5 ND 2 by Resonant Two-Photon Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Abstract

The resonant two-photon ionization (R2PI) spectra of jet-cooled C₆H₅NH₂, C₆H₅NHD, C₆H₅ND₂, C₆D₅NH₂, C₆D₅NHD, and C₆D₅ND₂ resulting from the S₁←S₀ electronic transition have been simultaneously recorded in three different sample mixtures. New data on C₆H₅NHD and C₆D₅NHD are presented for the first time. The observed R2PI spectral bands of these species are successfully assigned on the basis of observed frequency shifts in some vibrational modes of deuterated species and calculated ab initio values. On the basis of mass separation and optical spectral analyses, this method provides an unambiguous means for the simultaneous and selective detection of isotopically substituted anilines presented in the mixture.
