Abstract
Infrared emission spectroscopy has been used to study the phase transformations of gypsum, thenardite, glauberite, and anhydrite between the temperatures of SO and 1400°C. It is shown that emission spectroscopy can be used to monitor these changes in situ and that metastable forms and reversible transformations are easily detected.
