Abstract
Bipolar spark discharges were investigated to determine whether the two cathodic vapor plumes successively created would mix, and, if so, whether energy transfer between the plume species would occur. Vapor mixing was observed; changes in sampling or excitation mechanisms were also indicated. Possible reasons for the changes in emission patterns are discussed.
