Information about the pressure, temperature, and amount of gas in a sample and the spectral resolution of its absorption spectrum is obtained by nonlinear least squares analysis of the spectrum and sets of absorption coefficients derived from appropriate reference spectra of the absorber. Spectra of N2O are analyzed to demonstrate the technique.
