Abstract
Auger electron spectroscopy has been employed to study the diffusion of sulfur, carbon, and chlorine in powdered α-titanium. Arrhenius analysis of the diffusion rates indicates that the activation energies are 15.5, 6.2, and 9.8 kcal/mol for sulfur, carbon, and chlorine, respectively. These activation energies are consistent with diffusion along grain boundaries within the α-titanium.
