The author found that it is most convenient to arrange an output jack, the four terminals (a) to (d), and the input switch before R₆ on a 2-pole, 4-position rotary switch such that R₆ is connected to the differential amplifier only when the last stage output (d) is connected to scope.

The 8048 log amplifier and specifications can be obtained from Intersil Inc., 10900 N. Tantau Ave., Cupertino, CA 95014. The 536 operational amplifier was manufactured by Signetics.
