Abstract
In this paper, a new approach to the internal standard method has been done in which it was found satisfactory to construct only one working curve for any element at a constant concentration of the internal standard. A correction factor is applied to the result to compensate for the additional amounts of the internal standard element added to the samples to raise its concentration up to a constant value. This method is relatively rapid, economic, and reproducible. Standard deviations of ±1.5, ±3.2, and ±8.8% were reported for duplicate determinations of cobalt, manganese, and chromium, respectively, in oil ashes.
