Atomic absorption studies were performed with a simple bandpass filter. Results of these studies for lithium indicated that the sensitivity and detectability obtained were comparable to existing atomic absorption techniques that employ a monochromator to isolate a waveband. The main advantages of using a bandpass filter in place of a monochromator are the relatively low cost of the filter and the ease of operation.
