The Teflon adapter must fit snugly but not tightly, otherwise the cavity cell will fracture during centrifugation.

The absorption band at ∼9.8 μ [(b) of Fig. 2] is from the silicone oil used as the GLC-column liquid phase. This material was found to exude from the column at elevated temperatures and, in this instance, was trapped with the compound 4-thiaheptane.
