Using the unit area integration method for the calculation of buffer efficiency, the buffer efficiency index values, (UA)M' and (UA)T' were calculated for the sulphate, chloride, carbonate, borate, fluoride, and nitrate anions as the potassium and barium salts. It was found that the efficiency of the buffer anion is markedly influenced by the associated cation.
