Abstract
A rapid spectrographic method has been investigated for the determination of vanadium and iron in coke, ranging in concentration from 0 001 to 0 05 percent The analysis was performed on the volatile-free coke previously powdered and dried by standard procedures. A spark-ignited, low voltage a.c arc was used to excite the sample and results agreed within ±10 percent with those obtained by the ASTM D-271 procedure Coefficients of variation were 12 8 percent for iron and 55 percent for vanadium The method is applicable to the simultaneous determination of many other metals
