Modification of Benning's infrared method permits determination of water in Freon-12 refrigerant contaminated by as much as 1% oil. Quantity of oil is determined at the 2.34μ H band. The sum of water and the water equivalent value of oil is determined at 2 67μ. Difference between these two is the true moisture content of Freon-12®.
