The mass spectrometer has been applied to type analyses in C6 to C8 paraffin-naphthene molecular-weight fractions. The platforming process has prompted the analysis of five component-types in these mixtures: Total paraffins, mono- and polysubstituted cyclopentanes, mono- and polysubstituted cyclohexanes.
