Numerous efforts are underway to enable the sharing of clinical information among providers. E-prescribing is actually one of the more mature examples of the sharing of structured data found in today's health care system. In this installment, we provide an update on e-prescribing. We also use the example of a major player in e-prescribing to illustrate the potential of a communication network among providers.
