Information technology should enable pharmacists to better perform their job-related responsibilities, whether those tasks are administrative, operational, clinical, or any combination of the three. The reality is that today's health care environment has become so complex that information technology tools are requisite to what pharmacists do. This column addresses several areas within the medication use process where technology supports pharmacists' activities.
