Abstract
A study is carried out to determine the sound sources in typical elevator devices used in domestic buildings in Spain. The analysis consists of measurements in more than 50 different buildings, including vibration analysis. Surveys have shown that the main sound sources are: the machine itself, the controller, the doors and the blocking device. Noise measurements have been taken inside the adjacent parts of residential buildings, showing values in excess of 50 dBA, caused by faults in the vibration isolation of the machine and the controller in electromechanic elevators. On the other hand, hydraulic elevators showed a greater variability in results, depending on the machine.
