Abstract
As previously reported in NVWW, Naples Airport Authority has simply banned Chapter 2 (or Stage 2) aircraft from its runways at Naples Municipal Airport, claiming this class of aircraft, largely built between 1975 and 1983, are too noisy. The FAA is fighting back.
A hearing began on 2nd June to determine whether the municipality has the right to impose such a ban. The municipality's case has been that when Stage 2 jets made up less than 1% of the aircraft movements at the airport, they caused 35-40% of the complaints.
