Abstract
Components like pumps, compressors and motors make more noise in their real working environment than they do when tested in the lab by their manufacturer – to the extent it is sometimes assumed that they are faulty when they are installed. Soon, thanks to research at The University of Liverpool, manufacturers will be able to model their real working performance and minimise the noise at the design stage.
