Abstract
This paper presents the development of a portable wind generator prototype intended as a battery charger. The work begins with the optimal aerodynamic design of the rotor, based on the atmospheric conditions of the future installation locations, followed by manufacturing and testing to validate its expected performance. It was then coupled to a permanent magnet generator (PMG), and the performance of the whole wind charger was finally characterized, comparing the results with the measured performance of a similar commercial wind charger. All tests were executed in an open section wind tunnel.
