Abstract
The process of design of a structure should satisfy the rules of structural design, as well as, the personal preferences of the designer. The rules of structural design are based on structural mechanics and are well established. However, there is no well defined method of dealing with the features of design that are dependent on the personal view and preferences of the designer. The purpose of this paper is to present a method for dealing with such features of structural design. This is achieved through the concept of “desirability factors”.
