A rare case of bilateral multiple renal abscesses

Abstract

Bilateral multiple renal abscesses have been found in individuals with predisposing factors, but are rare in people who are otherwise healthy. This case report shows that ultrasound plays a key role in management of renal abscesses with a key advantage over CT when combined with ultrasound-guided aspiration of the abscess. Early diagnosis using ultrasound gives a higher probability that antibiotic treatment will be all that is required, thus reducing the risk of rupture and surgery.
