Abstract
Since April 2011, concerns about treatment or care in the NHS raised by patients, their relatives or members of NHS staff have been subject to investigation under new regulations brought in by the devolved Welsh Government. The intention is ‘to do it once; do it well’ and if there is a qualifying liability in tort, to deal with any lower value claim expeditiously and economically. More importantly, lessons learned are acknowledged and shared in a drive towards ‘putting things right’ for the future. It is early days for the scheme as yet but this article sets out the general rules of engagement.
