Abstract
The Supreme Court has handed down judgment in the high profile case of Jones v Kaney, in which the court has held that expert witnesses, including healthcare professionals, can now be sued. Healthcare professionals are often called upon in cases to provide expert evidence. Until this decision, expert witnesses had been held to be immune from claims. However, this decision means that the experts are no longer immune and can be sued by their clients (and potentially others). It will be interesting to see how this judgment affects experts.
