Abstract
Abstract
Training in neonatal resuscitation is mandatory for any healthcare professional that may be present at delivery. This includes midwives, obstetrician and anaesthetists as well as paediatricians. The cornerstone of neonatal resuscitation is the establishment of a patent airway to allow lung inflation. In the absence of a patent airway, all other resuscitative manoeuvres are ineffective. Adherence to resuscitation guidelines, regular re-training and effective team leadership are necessary for succcesful resuscitation.
