Effective sterilization of a plastic film rack isolator with 'Alcide' tm

Abstract

A 'use challenge' test of the sterilizing ability of 'Alcide'^tm was devised against a 'cocktail' of 8 selected bacteria and 2 fungi. The organisms were used to coat the inside of an isolator prior to sterilization with 'Alcide' solution. After exposure to the solution for 24 h, no organisms could be recovered from the surfaces of the isolator. No operator discomfort was observed during preparation of the 'Alcide' solution.
