A 2-stage automated coagulometer was evaluated and compared with standard manual procedures for the routine performance of prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time assays in human, dog and rat samples. Correlations between the manual and automated techniques were good, though the automated technique was shown to be the more precise.
