Abstract
Females grouped together showed a significantlylower incidence (0/20) of vaginal oestrus than did those separated from the group and paired with males (27/35): 12 of the 27 first showed vaginal oestrus on the 3rd day after pairing. Paired females had heavier ovaries and uteri than did those kept in groups.
