Abstract
Methoxyflurane is easily the best of the 4 agents for producing well controlled surgical anaesthesia in mice. Its particular advantages are that operative and post-operative mortality are negligible, 1 person can both control the level of anaesthesia and perform the surgical operation, there is no serious hazard for the administrator, and the anaesthetic can be administered with very simple apparatus.
