Abstract
250 Hartley strain guinea-pigs were anaesthetised using 37.5 mg pentobarbitone per kg bodyweight. This dosage level differs considerably from those levels previously recorded in the literature. Average hypnotic ('sleeping') time was 120 minutes. Deep surgical anaesthesia was more difficult to achieve, as large animals gave irregular results at their weight-adjusted dosage level.
