Abstract
Brian Osborne has retired from full-time employment but will continue to be a consultant to BRI Australia as well as serve on the JNIRS Editorial Board. Brian has been a member of the international NIR community for over 30 years and was the 1993 Tomas Hirschfeld Award winner. He started his NIR career at FMBRA, Chorleywood, UK, before migrating to Australia in 1994 where he will spend his retirement. In this article, Brian traces his career path on two continents and the role NIR has played in it.
