Abstract
Western safety assistance to RBMK reactors has been growing over recent years through various bilateral programmes and also through multi-lateral programmes funded by the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) and by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on behalf of the Nuclear Safety Account Donors. The paper gives an overview of these programmes, what their objectives are and how they are implemented.
