Abstract
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are of considerable interest to the aerospace industry because of their great potential for the production of lightweight, structurally efficient aerospace components. This potential has been recognized on an international level throughout the Western world, with many nations classing MMCs as being of strategic importance. This article assesses the aerospace market for MMCs and highlights the increasing efforts to exploit the potential of these materials in all sectors of the aerospace industry.
