Devtec, an aerospace engineering subsidiary of Aer Lingus, designed and developed (for manufacture in Ireland) the Vulcain engine supports for the Ariane 5 European launcher, in conjunction with SEP France. This paper describes how value analysis was applied to achieve significant cost and mass reductions. The methodology described is applicable to other aerospace projects.
