Abstract
Transmitting torque and synchronism of magnet couplings are studied by magnetic charge. A formula of transmitting torque is derived and examined by experiments and a parametric study is performed using the formula. The results show that even-number couples of magnetic poles can increase the transmitting torque, but it is not suitable for axial direction dimensions of the coupling magnets to he larger than 40 mm. The torque is largest when an angle of the relative rotation reaches half of the central angle of a coupling magnet.
