This paper describes the concept of the new Central Line rolling stock, its relationship with the Central Line modernization project and the steps that turned the concept into a specification and most recently into a £300M plus contract. It does not attempt to describe in detail the trains, but to document the processes that will ensure that the trains are right first time.
