Abstract
The paper reviews the results of the Belfast, Edinburgh and Tyneside combined heat and power with associated district heating (CHP/DH) studies and highlights the main findings and indicates how these have been used to arrive at a potentially viable scheme. Industrial combined heat and power (CHP) is discussed and examples given of various systems within the United Kingdom. The main parameters in system selection are examined and the availability of suitable software is commented on.
