The refurbishment of pipework can place unusual and varied demands on a contractor. This paper illustrates some of the engineering aspects associated with two such case histories. The recommendations that were made and implemented for the reinstatement of these piping systems are outlined. General recommendations of techniques that may be adopted when refurbishing damaged pipework are also presented.
