Theoretical stability characteristics of a new type of floating-ring bearing, proposed in an earlier paper, are presented. The results bring out the essential features of dynamical behaviour of the proposed bearing against the externally-pressurized plain porous journal bearing.
The numerical scheme for the computation of the stability margin adopted in this work is different, yet simple and very efficient.
