Abstract
This paper outlines the development of the Frederikshavn Shipyard, Denmark, from the building of wooden fishing vessels in 1870 to the construction of modern coasters and roll-on, roll-off carriers. It goes on to give details of the comprehensive modernization scheme carried out in recent years and discusses the problems of installing a completely integrated data processing system in a modern shipyard. The paper concludes by describing the reorganization of the staff structure and the present-day management philosophy of the company.
