The extension of a non-linear digital simulation model of a marine propulsion plant, to include an approximate equation for the propeller shaft torque, is considered. It is then shown how linearized transfer-function matrix models can he developed from the non-linear system model. The evaluation of the first order partial derivatives, using the non-linear data in the simulation program, will then be described.
