Abstract
As a result of a series of tests on various tractor/trailer combinations operating within the Esso Petroleum fleet. anti-lock braking equipment was specified as standard on semi-trailer running gears in preference to load sensing valves. The adoption of this equipment increased the performance of the vehicle combination in the unladen condition and corrected an imbalance in the rate of brake lining wear.
