Abstract
The Parsons Memorial Lecture was instituted in 1935 under the auspices of The Royal Society. It is delivered each year in one of the branches of science to which Sir Charles Parsons contributed, and is sponsored by the Institution or Society appropriate to that subject.
The range of Parsons' activities included marine engineering, naval architecture, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, and optics.
