Abstract
This paper gives the results of calculations which were undertaken, in the first instance, to determine the increase in operating range of a disk coupling with skew misalignment which would be obtained by tapering the disks. The results of later investigations concerning the stresses due to “umbrella” deflexions, the vibration frequencies of tapered disks, and the torque buckling of disks of constant thickness, are also presented.
All the results have been obtained by integration of the general differential equation for disk bending.
