This paper draws attention to the increasing importance to the farmer of powered tillage techniques, using power-take-off driven implements, particularly against the background of shortage of agricultural labour and increasing labour costs. The development of these techniques is discussed, and the effect on the design of tractors and of power-take-off facilities.
